STEGO’s Essential Technologies suite treats environmental control as a foundational layer built into a glove, not a bulk feature bolted onto a summer construction for the cold months. CoreTherm™ is the Essential Technology assigned to cold-environment protection, and it solves a problem most winter gloves handle badly: insulating the hand without insulating away the grip.
Cold-environment PPE has a construction problem before it has an insulation problem. The easiest way to trap warmth is to add bulk — thicker padding, heavier shells — but bulk is exactly what a working hand can’t afford. Grip strength, tactile feedback, and fine motor control all degrade the moment a glove stops moving with the hand and starts working against it. A glove that keeps a palm warm sitting still on a shelf is not the same as a glove that keeps a palm warm while it’s closing around a cold valve handle, running a power tool, or setting a fastener at temperature.
What It Is
CoreTherm™ is one of the 7 Essential Technologies in STEGO’s cross-platform suite (Profile §4.6) — technologies assigned at the SKU level across TEGX™, GRYX™, SHELL GRD™, and ChemBlock™, rather than tied to a single platform. Two SKUs carry it as a verified cold-environment liner on their current public Article Data Sheets: GRYX’s ST-2067 (Nitri-Max Thermo) and TEGX’s ST-6075 (Cut Defender Thermo). On both, CoreTherm is built as a distinct inner layer — publicly specified as Brushed Acrylic Terry — positioned separately from the outer liner/shell and separate from the nitrile coating that does the gripping. Both ADS carry the identical function line for the technology: “Integrated insulation layer retains warmth in cold conditions without restricting mobility.” That closing clause is the design brief the layer is built to.
Brushed acrylic terry is not a proprietary STEGO recipe — it’s a widely used industrial-knit approach. Napping one face of a knit raises a pile that traps still air near the skin, and still air is a poor conductor of heat, which is the working principle behind brushed thermal linings generally. What’s specific to CoreTherm’s construction is where that layer sits: isolated in its own position inside the glove, rather than achieved by thickening the shell, the palm coating, or the cut liner the hand actually works through.
Why It’s Built That Way
STEGO’s construction logic assigns each hazard its own layer rather than asking one shell to do every job — the same decomposition-of-risk approach that keeps cut resistance, grip, and dexterity as separate, independently-engineered systems elsewhere in the range. Cold is handled the same way. Rather than thickening the palm coating or the cut liner — the two layers the hand relies on for grip and blade resistance — CoreTherm is positioned as a dedicated liner, structurally independent of the layers doing the gripping and the cutting-resistance work. That separation is why ST-2067 and ST-6075 can each carry CoreTherm without giving up their primary job. ST-2067 keeps its Smooth+Sandy Nitrile two-layer coating for liquid resistance and palm grip; ST-6075 keeps its cut-resistant liner and its own Nitrile palm dip. CoreTherm doesn’t ask either glove to trade cut resistance or grip for warmth — it’s layered in behind them, not instead of them.
How You’ll Feel It On Shift
Pull a cold valve handle, a chilled fastener, or stock steel out of a cold stockroom, and the cold you feel first isn’t the air around you — it’s the surface pulling heat straight out of your palm on contact. That’s the exposure EN 511’s Contact Cold metric measures. ST-6075 is certified against the full three-axis EN 511:2006 rating — Convective Cold (ambient, wind-driven heat loss), Contact Cold, and Water Penetration (resistance to wetting) — at 1/2/1: built to hold up standing outdoors through a shift, not just handling cold parts and tools. ST-2067’s current public documentation does not carry a verified EN 511 rating, so this brief doesn’t assert a cold classification for it — what’s confirmed is the CoreTherm liner itself, built into a mechanical/grip glove for handling cold parts and tools.
Either way, what’s underneath the fingertips doesn’t change: nitrile grip on both, cut-resistant construction on ST-6075. CoreTherm doesn’t change what’s happening at the working surface — it changes how long the rest of the hand stays capable of using it.
Retained warmth reduces the hand’s exposure to cold. It does not eliminate the risk of cold injury, and it is not a substitute for task-appropriate cold-exposure controls — rotation, rewarming, and cold-stress monitoring — on extended low-temperature work.

As a cross-platform Essential Technology, CoreTherm is assigned at the SKU level rather than reserved for one platform — the same suite logic that lets STEGO pair thermal insulation with whichever primary protection a task requires. This brief anchors on the two SKUs whose public ADS confirm the CoreTherm feature callout; it does not assert CoreTherm on any SKU beyond those two without the same public-surface verification.
